Madonna – This Used To Be My Playground

Madonna – This Used To Be My Playground Album: Something To Remember 1992 HQ Lyric: This used to be my playground This used to be my childhood dream This used to be the place I ran to Whenever I was in need Of a friend Why did it have to end And why do they always say Don’t look back Keep your head held high Don’t ask them why Because Life is short And before you know You’re feeling old And your heart is breaking Don’t hold on to the past Well that’s too much to ask This used to be my playground This used to be my childhood dream This used to be the place I ran to Whenever I was in need Of a friend Why did it have to end And why do they always say No regrets But I wish that you Were here with me Well then there’s hope yet I can see your face In our secret place You’re not just a memory Say goodbye to yesterday Those are words I’ll never say This used to be my playground This used to be our pride and joy This used to be the place we ran to That no one in the world could dare destroy This used to be our playground This used to be our childhood dream This used to be the place we ran to I wish you were standing here with me This used to be our playground This used to be our childhood dream This used to be the place we ran to The best things in life are always free Wishing you were here with me

haha, Madonna’s logic: star in a movie, play your song during the credits.

I love this song and video. Always one of my favorites. But it was such a shock to have her come out with this song in early 1992, this tender, introspective, even mainstream song (it was the theme song for a movie about baseball!); and then in late 1992 she put out the “Sex” book. In those years, she was always so hard to read. Always such a complex mixed bag.

One of those songs that “hit home”. Was never much of a Madonna fan, but this song is one of my favorites. The lyrics are second to none.

she needs to make more ballads…and start trends like she used to!!

  18. launwatch says:

I hope you look back and realise those cowards that bullied you had the mental activity of house flies. Like all bullies they were bigger and there were more of them right? Look back at the good times you had to yourself and don’t ever bother about kncukledragging morons.

  19. launwatch says:

I think that would be appropriate, children that grew to kill and those who died. This song would be fitting. Everyone should learn in the playground just to live, and be and enjoy, not silly barriers that turn us against one another. Good luck with your doco. I’ll never get over the lunacy that brought about that day. Fairs fair for all in the world, when anyone people are pushed down they flare up. History repeating.

My cousin passed away jan. 23 . 09. He was 29 years old. He barely spoke english when this song came out, and it remained one of his favourite songs. xoxoxox rip cugino mio questa canzone e per te

  21. arromac says:

…Arguably one of Misses Madonna’s best works to date. What a heart-felt classic, timeless in melody and tramatic in emotion. She sets the ‘standard’ in pop music and few will ever see its’ like…

  22. iceplanet1980 says:

This song is for everyone that have to someone especial person in the heart… good bless you… kisses from Mexico

  23. shewolfsiren says:

I know this is a borderline taboo subject—but does anyone else think of 9-11 when they hear this song? Because I’m thinking of making a 9-11 video using this song and dedicating it to everyone who died that day.

  24. Kwao150 says:

This song is one of the most touching songs i have ever heard, it’s beautiful.
